Hi Dieter,
   This is my "two cent" contribute.

   We are using 0.8c version both on Windows and Linux.
   To build windows .dll we installed CygWin and it's gcc compiler and
we had to change a while the makefiles, but the result is working fine.
   Now we have a complete libzip.dll working and we use it with a
dynamic link (not using .lib interface to the dll).
   If you think this solution could be useful for you I'll give you the
details.
