Only Memory usage

Hi All,
   I'm new to this list so please forgive me if this request is Off Topic.
   I was just wandering if anybody of you had to zip or unzip something 
in memory, without reading it from or writing it into a zip archive.
   I try to explain... I'd like to zip data to put into my archives or 
into a DB as a Binary part, read it back ad unzip it....
   libzip just works with files but it's core should provide something 
simile.
   Does anybody face anything similar? Is there a way into libzip that 
I can follow too reach such a result?
